Today we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day. Earth Day 2020 is being marked by two crises. One is the COVID-19 pandemic, and the other is a slowly building disaster for our climate. We can, will and must solve both challenges. The world was not prepared for the novel coronavirus, but we still have time to prepare — in every part of the world — for the climate crisis.
We have undoubtedly entered a different climate this year as we navigate coming together digitally in an effort to protect and safeguard the health and safety of everyone around us. But today, the entire world unites under a shared fear, shared hope, shared unknown, and shared planet.
As a certified BCorp, sustainability is at the core of how we operate at Social Enterprises. From incorporating zero-waste initiatives at our events to encouraging vegetarian and vegan meal options, the work we do with our clients ultimately reflects our BCorp model of balancing purpose with profit. This year, our team took the #MyPlanetMyPledge and came up with our own ways and small steps we can take towards a healthier planet. Here’s some of what our team has pledged:
I will plant a vegetable garden
I will vote for the environment
I will stop purchasing single use plastic
I will eat less meat
I will buy local to support my community
I will pick up trash on my daily walks
Join us in mobilizing digitally for our planet!
