Social Enterprises is proud to have recently achieved Silver Level certification from Sustainability at Work! This certification recognizes our positive impact on our environment and our community through sustainable practices in our office environment.

In order to be certified, we were asked to demonstrate a minimum of 25 examples of sustainable practices at the Social Enterprises offices. Some of our action items include:

  • Using recycled materials whenever we can, and making recycling & composting bins easily labeled and monitored
  • Twenty percent or more of our employees walk, bike, carpool, or take transit as their primary commute method
  • Track and spot lighting use LEDs or CFLs, and lighting is dimmed or turned off when adequate sunlight is available
  • Kitchen faucet aerators have a flow rate of 1.5 gallons per minute or less
  • Employees are allowed to volunteer in the community on paid work time

We are proud of the environmental, economic and social sustainability actions that we’ve taken as a business and are working towards ramping up our efforts in the months to come! If you are interested in getting certified with Sustainability at Work you can visit their website
