Sustainable Events, All Summer Long.

by

As summer came to fruition in Portland, the Social Enterprises team geared up for three sizable events. The EV Roadmap 10 Conference, Pac-12 Sustainability Conference and The Green Sports Alliance Summit kept us busy throughout June, and we wound down in July at our annual summer retreat.

An overwhelming success, The EV Roadmap 10 Conference presented by Forth is an event our team looks forward to working on year after year. Over the past five years we have witnessed it grow into a ‘must-attend’ event in the Electric Vehicle industry. The conference sold out with over 600 attendees. The well rounded program incorporated sessions on trending topics such as autonomous vehicles and fast charging.

“As always, EV Roadmap is one of the single most valuable events I attend all year. Attendees are the people who are actually doing the work of bringing electric cars into broader usage, and the information exchange and general networking is unparalleled. Highly recommended!”

Keeping momentum from the EV Roadmap 10 Conference going, our team headed to Sacramento in late June to the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings. The venue was home to our next two events, the first being the Pac-12 Sustainability Conference held on June 26th in conjunction with The Green Sports Alliance Summit which unfolded throughout the remainder of the week. Golden 1 Center is the first LEED platinum certified venue in the world and served as an excellent setting showcasing new heights reached in sustainable sports venues.

The majority of our team being Pac-12 alumni, we were eager to work on the inaugural Pac-12 Sustainability Conference to bring together sustainability and athletics professionals from all 12 Pac-12 schools. The sold out 1-day event included content on everything from marketing and sponsorship to student engagement. The program also boasted a keynote from basketball legend and environmentalist Bill Walton.

Conversation around sustainability in sports progressed as the 7th annual Green Sports Alliance Summit presented by The Green Sports Alliance began Tuesday morning. The theme for the 2017 Summit was “PLAY GREENER™ : Engaging Fans, Athletes & Communities”, focused on mobilizing our members and partners to bring about positive environmental and social impact across their fan-base and surrounding communities.  A panel featuring speakers from Lonely Whale Foundation and Sailors for the Sea explored how sports are championing ocean health. The 7th annual Summit marked yet another advantageous year advancing sustainability in the sports industry. We look forward to returning to this meaningful and purpose driven event in 2018.
